Muhlenbergia dubia
Pine Muhly
This recent addition to the western nursery trade is getting wide praise for its dependable gray green foliage in meadow settings. Its tidy gray foliage grows to 3’ in dense clumps. The silvery gray slender flowers are showy and neat on the plant from summer to fall. It is drought tolerant and grows in a wide variety of soils. Best in full sun. Plant from plugs 2 – 3 ft on center. Pine Muhly is best in dry summer climates and would need excellent drainage in the Pacific Northwest.
