Poa cita
Golden Tussock
Description
Poa cita may be the grass to finally dethrone the overused Mexican Feather Grass. With a similar height and texture, Poa cita takes all the great aspects of Nassella without the invasive seeding potential or bad hair day appearance. While most literature refers to Poa cita as Silver Tussock Grass, the silver moniker is misleading, as the grass couldn't be more golden in color.
Tough, durable, and tidy, Poa cita is one of the best groundcover grasses to come along in quite some time. While the airy flowers are not a showy as Mexican Feather grass, they are not messy on the plant and are safe for animals and the environment.
Poa cita is useful in groups, massed as a tall groundcover, or in pots and containers. It does well on slopes and in coastal gardens in full sun to light shade. Poa Cita combines well with sedges, Seslerias, and Muhlys too. Its warm green color make it a go-to ground cover grass to combine with silvers and grays of the California landscape.
